Salman to skip IIFA Awards for 'Bodyguard'

Salman to skip IIFA Awards for 'Bodyguard'

With DABANGG and READY proving Blockbusters, everyone’s eyeing the next big release of Salman Khan, BODYGUARD, which is slated for release this Eid. DABANGG had a dream run during Eid last year and BODYGUARD is expected to surpass those figures, given the fact that Salman is going through the best phase after two mega-hits. In fact, this writer strongly feels that BODYGUARD will beat the opening weekend numbers of DABANGG and READY by a huge margin, also because it’s a 5-day weekend this time [BODYGUARD is slated for release on a Wednesday].

While on Salman and BODYGUARD, there’s talk that the first theatrical trailer of this film will be launched with CHILLAR PARTY [which Salman co-produces with Ronnie Screwvala of UTV] on 8 July. But that’s incorrect. In fact, neither the first look poster nor the first theatrical trailer of BODYGUARD is ready, as of now.

In the meantime, Salman will be skipping the coveted IIFA Awards, being held in Toronto this year. Initially, Salman was supposed to participate at the IIFA event since CHILLAR PARTY will be screened for an august gathering at IIFA. But travelling to Canada and back will throw the ongoing shooting schedule of BODYGUARD out of gear. Since BODYGUARD is racing towards completion and also because it has to meet the deadline [Eid release], Salman has decided to skip the IIFA Awards this year.

While on CHILLAR PARTY, top politician Ambika Soni will be watching the film this evening [Tuesday] in Delhi. Salman is expected to fly to Delhi and then return to the shooting location after meeting her.
