Jaipal niece'shusband arrested

HYDERABAD: Police on Monday took four persons, including Dr Chaitanya Reddy, into custody for the suspicious death of Dr Kiran Reddy, niece of Union petroleum minister S Jaipal Reddy.

Dr Kiran Reddy was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her residence at Nyaya Vihar in Bharani Layout on Road Number 78, Jubilee Hills on Saturday morning.

The couple had gone to attend a bachelor's party hosted by Kiran Reddy's brother on Friday evening and returned home late in the night.

After reaching home, they slept in separate rooms. On Saturday morning, Chaitanya found Kiran lying unconscious on the bed. He immediately took her to Apollo hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Though 72 hours had elapsed since she was found dead, police are yet to say conclusively how she might have died.

Police initially booked a suspicious death case under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), but on a complaint lodged by Kiran Reddy's parents, they altered the case to murder (Section 302 of IPC) and took her husband Chaitanya Reddy, his brother Nithin Reddy and their parents into custody on Monday and started interrogating them.

Chaitanya Reddy studied medicine in the Dominican Republic and later returned to India, while Kiran Reddy completed MBBS from K S Hegde Medical Academy in Karnataka.

Kiran Reddy, daughter of Jaipal Reddy's younger sister Bharati, was working as a dermatologist at Dr Madhu Advanced Hair Transplantation Centre in Jubilee Hills, while Chaitanya Reddy was into business.
