The ApunKaChoice movie review of Bhindi Baazaar Inc. In the past, several gangster films have proven wrong the critics who think that only light-hearted comedies are favoured by the audiences. Is Bhindi Baazaar Inc also such a gangta film? Well, partly yes and partly no.
The film starts with a chess game played between Tez (Gautam Sharma) and Shroff (Kay Kay Menon). Now, this game of chess needs a special mention because it is a leitmotif in the film. The story is unveiled with each move played on the chess board.
Bhindi Bazaar Inc is basically a film about two pickpocket gangs fighting to prove their supremacy. The first gang is led by Mamu (Pawan Malhotra) whereas the other one is led by Pandey (Piyush Mishra). In midst of their journey for supremacy what follows is the tale of friendship, deception, lies, and love.
Speaking about the debutant director Ankush Bhatt, he manages to give the audiences some nail-biting moments during the movie. The kite-flying sequence does leave an impact on you and assures you that Ankush has a lot in him to offer to the film industry.
The cast is the highlight of the movie. Kay Kay Menon hardly puts a foot wrong. Although Jackie Shroff is wasted, Pawan Malhotra and Piyush Mishra were outstanding in their gang leader act. Newcomer Gautam and actress Deepti Naval were impressive too!
When dialogues like “Khel mein haarna ya jeetna maainey nahin rakhta, aisa usi nein kaha hoga jo hara ho. Khelna sirf jeetne ke liye khela jaata hai” appear, do we even need to mention that hard hitting lingo is used in the movie?
A fact worth mentioning is that the music totally disappoints us! Even the much hyped item number of Jennifer Lopez’s distant cousin Caterina Lopez lets us down.
Overall, Bhindi Bazaar Inc is a one-time watch for the lovers of underworld films. The lower your expectation, the more you will enjoy this movie.
We give it 2 stars out of 5!
